Job Summary:

The Critical Care Registered Nurse is a vital member of the medical team responsible for delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Under the guidance of the Clinical Manager, this nurse will implement, supervise, and evaluate patient care plans using a nursing process and adhering to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, prioritizing their needs and well-being.
  • Lead by example, delegating, supervising, and participating in safe nursing care activities provided by ancillary personnel.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify opportunities for improvement, collaborating with the healthcare team, patient, family, and community services.
  • Assess and provide appropriate teaching based on patient and family needs.
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement and research activities, utilizing all available resources to provide quality, cost-effective patient care.
  • Meet and maintain clinical competencies, adhering to pre-determined credentialing standards, mandatory/safety education, and completion of Basic Life Support and ACLS/PALS as appropriate.
  • Identify growth needs and participate in educational opportunities and professional organizations.
  • Serve as a role model and preceptor to new graduate nurses and less experienced personnel.
  • Assume charge nurse responsibility for the patient care unit as delegated.Requirements:

    This role requires a Baccalaureate in Nursing (preferred) and current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. At least one year of critical care experience is necessary.Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    This position demands visual and aural ability to monitor patient status, physical ability to assist in lifting and positioning patients, and exposure to a patient care environment. The nurse must also be able to perform extensive walking and standing, lifting, positioning, and pushing patients on stretchers.Equal Opportunity Employer:
